Hi, I’m Niq and I have been passionate about technology since my childhood. In recent years, I have delved deeply into the IT world. Now, through my studies, I also want to explore the mechanical world. My goal is to actively contribute to shaping the future.
I was born on October 20, 2003, in Biel, where I also grew up. I spent my school years in various schools in the suburbs of Biel, attending both elementary and secondary levels. After completing 8th grade in 2018, I transitioned to high school.
Over the course of four years, I completed my high school education at Gymnasium Biel-Seeland. My graduation thesis provided me with the first opportunity to demonstrate my programming skills. In this project, I developed a computer game from scratch.
After completing my high school education, I began my military service. Initially, I started as a telecommunications soldier, but due to knee problems, I was reassigned to office duty. There, I was primarily engaged in organizational tasks and often served as a driver.
As an intern at ENGEL AG, I worked in the IT department. During this time, I was able to implement numerous projects that went far beyond the usual tasks of an internship. I specialized intensively in network technology and collaborated closely with employees and external partners.
After my time in the IT department at ENGEL AG, my father opened his own architecture office and asked for my assistance in setting up the IT infrastructure. This gave me the opportunity to design and install a complete IT infrastructure, including servers and end devices.
In the summer of 2023, I successfully began my studies in Mechanical Engineering at ETH Zurich. To pursue this, I moved to Zurich and took on the responsibility for two houses managed by the student housing organization WOKO. The studies present exactly the challenge I was looking for, and I am excited to see where this journey will take me.
As part of my graduation thesis, I programmed a computer game called “Optics.” It was my first major project and came with both highs and lows. I learned a lot from this project, especially regarding time management and handling larger projects. I worked with Unity, C#, and Blender, and it was my first time delving deeply into shaders and rendering.
Pictures from the gameDuring my eight months in the IT department at ENGEL AG, I worked with the team to replace end devices at a total of five locations. We conducted numerous tasks on the internal network, collaborating with external partners like Swisscom. Additionally, I developed and implemented a camera surveillance system for the Biel location and planned a similar system for the Geneva location. Moreover, I set up and deployed my own management system for IT inventory.
My Work CertificateThrough my father’s company founding, I had the opportunity to oversee the IT infrastructure of a business from the very beginning. I set up everything from installing end devices to managing data and administrative servers. I built a complete network infrastructure with secure VPN connections to ensure safe data access from remote locations. Additionally, I created a website with SEO components to optimize the company’s online presence.
